Phillip Island & Great Ocean Road Tour (Two Day)
Multi Day Private Tour Itinerary
*Tour only runs October - March due to limited daylight hours
Day 1
Departs 7am from your Melbourne Hotel/Accommodation where we will whisk you off towards the start of the Great Ocean Road to get ahead of the tourist traffic. We stop at all the main highlights of this coastal section.
Bells Beach, one of the world's most famous surfing beaches and home of the Rip Curl Pro is our first stop. Split Point Lighthouse follows, with a great vantage point over gorgeous deserted beaches.
We than pass by the Memorial Arch where your guide will delve into the history behind the road, followed by a search of the kennet river area for wild parrots and koala's!
A lunch-stop will be made in the pretty coastal township of Apollo Bay, where you can sample some of the local delicacies, such as the Scallop pie made in an award winning local bakery.
After lunch, you will then be driven deeper into the Great Otway National Park for some scenic touring, where you will get the chance to take a Guided Rainforest walk. You will then head straight to Gibson Steps and Loch Ard Gorge, before finally arriving at the famous Twelve Apostles where you will have the chance to upgrade your tour experience (time permitting) by taking a personal helicopter joy flight over the rock formations below, after which, we begin our journey back to Melbourne.
Return to Melbourne City Centre at 7pm - Overnight accommodation in Melbourne is at own expense. In order to cut down your own personal travel time, we recommend booking either The Pan Pacific (5 Star) or Novotel (4 Star) located at South Wharf.
Day 2
Departs 11am (*departure time can vary by an hour depending on the time of year) from your Melbourne Hotel/Accommodation in a comfy air conditioned vehicle. Your personal driver and experienced local guide for the day will greet you personally and whisk you off towards Phillip Island.
En-route you will stop off at a popular Local Wildlife Park, to discover some native wildlife, and then the chance to get up close and personal to kangaroos and wallabies, whilst hand feeding them in their natural environment.
Then, onto Phillip island where you head over Churchill island - a famous old heritage working farm. Here you can take a stroll around their historical grounds or watch one of their many farm activities (such as sheep shearing, working dogs demonstration or whip cracking).
The Koala Conservation Centre is next, where you can explore the tree-top boardwalks and see koalas up close in their natural habitat. Wander the island's extensive trails with your guide, through the natural Australian bushland and enjoy the abundant bird life, whilst trying to spot wild Wallabies. A visit to the nearby Swan Lake Animal Sanctuary is also likely to thrill.
Dinner (own cost) stop at the Nobbies Centre, home to Australia's largest Seal population and Scenic Coastal Boardwalk, before making our way to island's main attraction - The Penguin Parade!
Return time to Melbourne varies depending on the time of year - ranges from 10pm - Midnight.
NOTE ! ! ! There is a lot of mileage to cover between Melbourne & The Twelve Apostles on the 1st day of touring - approximately 9 of the 12 hours of touring will be in the car itself. If you suffer from travel sickness, or prefer to have less time in the car and more time out in the local National Park, we strongly recommend our 3 Day Option, where the driving is reduced down to a maximum of 5 hours per day.
